EQuIS Helios Overview
Description
EQuIS™ Helios is a comprehensive environmental and geotechnical knowledge management portal combining AI-powered data handling and search capabilities with strong privacy and security features. It centralizes various data repositories to streamline information management and access.
Helios is a central data hub for storing and searching both structured and unstructured data from multiple repositories and eliminates data silos. Helios manages many types of information important for rapid insight into environmental and geotechnical programs. Use as a staging platform or long-term repository—every project document is hosted in one place.
Workflow
The following diagram illustrates the high-level workflow of unstructured content in Helios and Helios’ relationship with structured data stored in the EQuIS Schemas.
File Loading and Use
Select and load files with the built-in Helios Explorer or drag and drop up to 8 TBs of files to Azure Box services. Helios has automated file processing that writes to Microsoft Azure Blob Storage, extracts metadata, and indexes files using Azure AI. After processing, all files are stored in the application database. As part of the same Azure AI processing, Helios uses the first 15,000 characters in documents to automatically summarize files for quick understanding of content and context. Helios uses built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for data extractions.
Helios has advanced security features. Helios ensures only authorized users can search and access documents in their permissioned repositories, maintaining data confidentiality and integrity. Helios identifies Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and profanity within data files; flagged files are set aside for review to maintain crucial privacy standards and ensure a professional environment.
Users
Repository Administrators
Repository Administrators are users who can manage the entire repository. This includes managing manual Job Executions, adding Custom Filters, and managing reported documents potentially containing Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
End Users
End users are the primary routine users of Helios. From performing a standard document search to utilizing file trees to track down documents, the end user can do it all. These capabilities are contained in Helios Search and Helios Explorer features, respectively. The standard user will have a reader role. The writer role is an additional privilege that can be granted to the end user.
